This is an article on “How to get from Fukuoka Airport To Grand Hyatt Fukuoka or Canal City Hakata”. I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Fukuoka during my trip to Fukuoka. So this article is basically about how to get to the hotel from the airport. As Grand Hyatt Fukuoka is right next to Canal City Hakata, you can also use this article on how to get from Fukuoka Airport to Canal City Hakata.
There is even an Youtube video at the end of this article ๐
Singapore Airlines fly from Singapore to Fukuoka on SQ656 which leaves Singapore on 01:20 am (that’s the red eye flight from Singapore to Fukuoka) and that arrives at Fukuoka at 8am.
How do you get from Fukuoka Airport To Grand Hyatt Fukuoka or Canal City Hakata when you land ? There are a couple of ways but I did the way by the Hearts Airport Bus which will take you directly from Fukuoka International Airport Terminal to Canal City Hakata with just 500 Yen. And you arrive right next to the Grand Hyatt Fukuoka too.
This bus incidentally takes you also to the Hilton Sea Hawk Hotel which is another good hotel but just a little out of the way ๐
Travelling from Singapore to Fukuoka by SQ656
Singapore to Fukuoka is a daily flight from SQ and it only flies the red eye flight. The thing is that this flight is very frequently (or dare I say, always) on the excellent KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes. Which gives you 30% discount on redemption (and even 51% in Feb 2020). This gives you an excellent chance of taking and testing out the new Singapore Airlines 2018 Business Class seats with a relatively affordable redemption of your Krisflyer miles.
The bad thing ? It is a red eye flight and service is usually a little lacking (if you are thinking of full meals etc) on such a flight. Even for the legendary Singapore Airlines business class service.
Since you are flying business class or has a premium lounge membership, then you might want to visit the Fukuoka Airport Business lounge on your way back.
Arriving at Fukuoka Airport
You will arrive at Fukuoka Airport (international terminal) at around 8am.
From there you can clear the immigration. When I was there, there was a very long queue from the earlier flight so it took a while to clear the immigration.
Once you clear the immigration at Fukuoka Airport
There are a few ways to get to where you want to go from the Airport. There is a very useful board here that showed the different buses and other transport.
For our method, please proceed to check out the HEARTS Airport Bus ticket counter at the Bus Tickets Area.
No problem. It is easy to find. Just directly opposite the convenience store, a little to the LEFT side of you when you exited the immigration into the international terminal.
The only problem…. IT IS CLOSED ๐ Yes it is not open when you landed in Fukuoka Airport by SQ656. The first bus will arrive at 9:15am.
No issue. Go ahead and just exit the airport and turn left to find the Hearts Airport Shuttle Bus pick up point which is better Pick Up Point 3 and Pick up Point 4.
This is the beacon of waiting.
Noticed the words, “Canal City Hakata”. You are safe :). And for completeness, you will also notice it goes to Tenjin (another great shopping place in Fukuoka) and the Sea Hawk Hilton Hotel.
The Hearts Airport Bus Arrives
Here comes the Hearts Airport Bus. It is dark in colour.
Like all Japanese airport buses, it is clean and comfortable. Because the counter is closed, you will pay directly to the bus driver when he arrives. It costs 500 Yen per person.
And inside the bus, there is Free Wifi service too.
Arriving at Canal City Hakata
The bus will first go to the Hakata Bus Station (First Stop).
Before arriving right at the Canal City Hakata bus stop. Right in front of Canal City.
Hello Canal City Hakata.
Getting from Fukuoka Airport to Grand Hyatt Fukuoka
The Grand Hyatt Fukuoka is just a minute walk from the bus stop. You literally just turn left and walk right up to the hotel. Simple.
You can see that in this photo. Canal City Hakata on the right. Grand Hyatt Fukuoka on the left. And yes I do recommend staying here.
Enjoy. Will write more articles on my stay in Fukuoka too.
