The Singapore Airlines has a new product this year. It is the Regional Business Class seat. And boy, am I looking forward to this seat completely replacing the 2009 Regional Business Class seats (which, in my opinion, has to be the WORST business class seat in SQ fleet….).
SQ 2018 Regional Business Class from Singapore to Tokyo
And I am so glad to be able to try out the latest 2018 Singapore Airlines Regional business class seat during my flight to Tokyo this year. I took the SQ637 and the SQ638 from Singapore to Narita and back. These planes carry this latest seats.
So let’s start sharing some photos of this beautiful comfortable seat !!
Hello pretty boy ….
The Staggered Seating Arrangement
It is, of course, in the staggered layout (one in, one out) to suit the design of the chair…. depending on how you feel, if you are travelling alone, and loved privacy so much (if there is still a further need for it in business class), then you might like the ones in the “inner” part.
For me, I am pretty neutral 🙂
This can be seen from the SIA web site seat layout too:
And of course, if you are travelling with someone, you will like the middle seats that are sitting next to each other…. (unless you are, like me, hate the idea of talking on a plane.. even with your loved one…). As always, you can raise the divider between the two seats….. (after you have your arguments…)
From this photo, you can see the staggered middle seats as well…
The side area next to the seat has a big space where you can probably put your laptop (or iPad) while you are having your meal..
I dislike the seat belt a lot… but during take off and landing, you do have to wear the whole seat belt. During flight time, you can remove the top part… It was very uncomfortable for me…
Spaces Spaces Spaces
There is a big space to hold the headphones, your handphone, your wallet, your things etc.. with charging points…
Charging your phone… is very important… so two charging points (one for iPhone, one for iPad) and a plug (for your MacBook Pro….). There…. the road warrior complete with his tools are well served on this plane….
And a mirror for those who want to make sure you are not leaving food in the middle of your teeth…..
Nice big screen…. with the usual excellent range of entertainment for your flight…
The chubby hole below the screen. It is straight from the seat so you avoid the weird slanted angle seating position in other SQ business class. See that slit just below the screen (and above the chubby hole)…
I think the best seats are still row 11.
A photo of my legs inside the leg rest at Row 11
A photo of my partner’s legs when sitting on the same row. Nice boots.
The unique tray table
That’s the tray table…. pull it out and flip it over….
A place to hang your jacket….
Unlike in the 2017 Business Class, where I kept accidentally hitting the buttons (and sending the wonderfully attentive stewardess over to my seat…. time and time again), I don’t seemed to have the same problem in this seat… and I noticed that there is a nice “blue” indicator that showed quickly that your seat is in upright landing and taking off position. Presumably to help the crew and to make sure naughty people like me behave myself…
My First World Problem with the Seats
Just one thought…. Besides the irritating seat belt, I have yet another problem.
Somehow, due to the design of the seats, I am very “troubled” (okie… wrong word.. more like just not used to it at all….) about this round part of the seat on the side…….. (of course, this is the BACK of the staggered seat in front).
What it does do for me is to create an “area” on the floor that became my “rubbish area”.. I threw the wrappers (for the blanket, for the socks, for the slippers) there.. I threw the English newspapers there when I am done.. I dropped my blanket there when I dun need it. It became very convenient for me as it seemed to be an neglected part of the seat as it is inside and it is a small area with a weird round shape in front of it……. I should have taken a photo of that but then, it will make you think badly of me 🙂
I wonder how I will feel if I am sitting in the “inner part” of the sitting layout and this “area” becomes the “foyer” to come in and out of the seat….
Oh well, first world problem….
My food on this flight
Ok.. the food.. I love the food.. especially when eaten in front of a “Crazy Rich Asians” movie…. where I can only dream of their crazy wealth….
Baileys on the Rock is always my favourite drink onboard….
I ordered “Book the Cook” and had my craving for the SQ “Bak Chou Mee”…. excellent.. Look at the number of ingredients… my neighbourhood stall will say this is un-acceptable 🙂
Like all SQ flights I took in business class, both the flight out and in of Singapore was very enjoyable and the service is as superior as ever.
Love the new 2018 Singapore Airline 2018 Regional Business Class. Hope you get a chance to try it soon !
