Sometimes, a lack of research is really bad. I went to Changi Point Coastal Walk on a Sunday, thinking I am going to have a most romantic walk. Yet I ended with a 3/4 closed Coastal Walk. But then the food at the end, at Changi Settlement cafe, is pretty good.
I did put in my steps so I guess that’s fine….
Heads up ⚠️ — the section from Beach Walk to Sailing Point Walk is currently closed for long-term repair works until end of 2026, so part of the boardwalk will be a dead end. Refer to National Parks web site for more information.
Parking to walk the Changi Point Coastal Walk
You can park at the open air car park lots next to Changi Village Hawker Centre. We parked here on a Sunday morning. Same place as when we did the cycling from Changi Beach to East Coast Park !
You will then walk to Changi Point Ferry Terminal which is pretty obvious from the car parks.

But instead of going down to the pier (which will bring you to Pulau Ubin), you walk straight in and turn left. To see this nice stretch…

And you will greeted by this amazing Changi Point Coastal Walk start point… Looking Good. Romantic Walk ahead !

With a map to show you the route along Changi Point Coastal Walk..

The broad walk at the start makes it so promising..

Beautiful weather too

And hello Changi Beach Park..

Changi Point Coastal Walk is Closed In 2026
All is looking good…. until you see.. Something is wrong…

Very disappointed in August 2026 ! The Changi Point Coastal Walk is closed !! At least 3/4 of it !

What the… sad… but the map showed that the east section is open (which is nothing, frankly speaking) and the west section remains open (which is, a disappointment, if you go like we did). There is an alternative route but that’s along the road……
Oh well, since we are there, let’s do the ALTERNATIVE ROUTE then..
The Coastal Walk Alternative Route 2026
We will start outside the Changi Civil Service Club and just walk along the road…

Which is opposite the Village Hotel Changi (which is never available for day stay :p).

This road is called Netheravon Road. I don’t know about you but the name is damn creepy.. feel like hell, etc… Not helped by yes, a view of the super famous Former Changi Hospital along the route… Lucky it is a BRIGHT SUNDAY MORNING…

If you see anything in this photo, don’t blame me hor…

The walk is so un-remarkable but then we made do lah… Our Model was here with us today and she just walk willingly (maybe she was thinking of the cafe at the end of the walk)..

Some part of the walk is pretty well paved…

Just two of us…

Walk walk walk.. nothing special..

I guess this is the alternative Changi Point Coastal Walk in August 2026.. which is fine lah…

And at some point you will walk past The Coastal Settlement.. which we will come back to…. we will just carry on the “alternative” Coastal Walk.

Once past the cafe, make a right turn and you will see the Western Section entrance to the original Changi Point Broadwalk…..
Changi Point Broadwalk Western Section

Hello..

With a nice explanation map…

This looks promising….

Pretty Cool.. feel colonial and all white in style…

Lots of people are fishing.. it is pretty smelly actually > HA HA…

And the Changi Beach Club..

And a last section left…

And this is END of the Western Section… BORING..

That’s it…. so we turned back and went to The Coastal Settlement cafe for breakfast… HA
The Coastal Settlement
Some photos of the Coastal Settlement. We came many times so nothing much to say. I love the food and the relaxing atmosphere…

The menu..

Total Distance of the 2026 Alternative Changi Point Coastal Walk
Here’s a Runkeeper map of the walk

The total distance is a sad 3.34 km.. probably a run is better…

Okay.. disappointing but never mind. I did my walk.. HA HA..
Thanks for staying to the end of this blog post.. so here’s a special ending.. HA HA..
Changi Point Coastal Walk on 5th April 2007
Yes, I actually did visited the Changi Point Coastal Walk back on 5th April 2007. That is almost 20 years ago… (damn, you know how old I am now…). I remembered it was a rather emotional evening alone at this place….
So here’s a slide show of the photos I took then on 5th April 2007…
Hope the renovated upgraded Changi Point Coastal Walk will be nice too !!
