As I mentioned in my previous blog post on Shin Shin Ramen, I visited a traditional ramen shop in Fukuoka called 元祖长浜屋 Ganso Nagahamaya.
It was located near to the Fukuoka shipyards and catered mainly to the workers there. It is not a tourist hot spot and there is not even a nearby train station or something. Ha. It is very clear it is a place for the locals as many of the diners are very familiar with the shop and what to order.
Why was I at Ganso Nagahamaya 元祖长浜屋
I was there because my local guide at Fukuoka took us there. Ha. We signed up for a local bicycle tour and this was the lunch spot for the tour. I hope I have time one day to write up and do a video for this bike tour. It was very informative and fun.
Ordering at 元祖长浜屋 Ganso Nagahamaya
There is a way to order at 元祖长浜屋 Ganso Nagahamaya as they don’t have a menu and definitely no tourist friendly menu. Ha. Anyhow I depended on the local guide.
You do pay at the entrance machine though. But when you showed the ticket to the staff, you need to tell them what type of noodles do you want.
And this is what I ended up with.
It is a simple simple simple dish. Heartening and warm to the workers labouring nearby. No touristy type of food. Just a plain authentic ramen before the days of Shin Shin and Ichiran Tenjin ramen.
It was a plain lunch. Not overly filled with much heavy taste. Even the kitchen is a simple easy affair.
Conclusion. To go or not to go
I recommend you go to this shop if you are in Fukuoka for a while and a little sick of the ramen shops elsewhere. There are so much to eat at Fukuoka that it is not possible to be so. But if it is a local authentic and traditional ramen shop you want to try, 元祖长浜屋 Ganso Nagahamaya might be the one you want then.
