I have never stayed in AC Hotel Kuala Lumpur before despite multiple visits to the capital of Malaysia. The main reason for doing so is because it was going to be a long stay (7 days) and I am seriously bored of staying at Bukit Bintang area. Been staying at hotels such as Hyatt House KL, Hilton KL (which is a nice hotel at Sentral, conveniently served by a KLIA Express train from KL Airport), Grand Millennium KL and Putrajaya Marriott. There are also stays at Banyan Tree KL and ParkRoyal KL too etc.
It turned out to be a nice decision as besides being affordable, AC Hotel Kuala Lumpur is very accessible by MRT and LRT !

Why the Long Stay at AC Hotel Kuala Lumpur
As part of a special 2024 Marriott and Krisflyer promotion, a Marriott member who is a Krisflyer Gold member can be automatically upgraded to Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status if he/she stayed for 10 nights after signing up for the promotion.
As a reminder, the American Express Platinum Card gives you the Marriott Gold member instantly but not the Platinum Elite member.

So I have to clock 10 nights. I decided to do so in KL for 7 nights and do 3 nights somewhere else (most probably Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel). So I needed an affordable 7 nights stay at a Marriott Hotel chain in KL. This is the one π
Coincidentally, the hotel was running a “STAY LONGER WITH BREAKFAST” promotion.
- Accommodation in a new Prime or Premium room
- Minimum 5-night stay
- Daily sumptuous breakfast
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
Location of AC Hotel KL
The Hotel is located at 9 Jalan Lumut off Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, 50400 Malaysia. It’s your gateway to the heart of the bustling Titiwangsa Sentral business district, marrying convenience, comfort, and a genuine taste of local life in Kuala Lumpur. For those who know, it is the Chow Kit area of KL.
This area is probably not where most tourists will come but actually it is not that far from the Golden Triangle of KL (ie. KLCC, Bukit Bintang and Chinatown).
You can see that in this map.
Most importantly, when you drill in, you can see how close AC Hotel is to Titiwangsa MRT and LRT.
It is literally right at the door step of the hotel. When you walk out of the hotel, you can literally see the escalator up to the Stesen Titiwangsa Station. The BLUE arrow in a photo taken at the entrance of the hotel.
The number of lines served by these stations are quite a number. Check out this photo :
We took a Grab very cheaply to Chinatown to pray and over the days, we also took the MRT/LRT to various parts of KL (including all the way to Kajang.. yes that Kajang where you can have the famous Kajang Satay).
You can see the lines served by Titiwangsa MRT/LRT stations. More importantly, the MRT/LRT took us to Bukit Bintang, KLCC and even the new TRX Mall too.
The MRT/LRT system in KL really impressed me this trip and I was really enjoying riding around. You should try it too π
The LRT monorail at Titiwangsa and the Titiwangsa MRT/LRT stations are very new too.
The AC Hotel KL Lobby
Simple but nice. There is also a “AC Lounge” in the corner where you can grab drinks and watch TV or read too.
AC Hotel Kuala Lumpur Premium Twin Room
Let’s check out the photos of the new Premium Room.
We opted for a twin beds rather than a king bed this time round.
There was a nice sofa bed, which we converted to a bed by asking for some bedsheets and blanket and a pillow. These were given very quickly. Thanks to the staff.
A simple “wardrobe” and pantry area.
There is NO bath tub in the room, in case that’s important to you. Just a standing shower room.
Nice set of very special smelling toiletries.
Views from My Room
A view from my room at night and in the day. To the left is KL Tower and then the Merdeka 118 (not, not the TRX building). At the right, is the famous UMNO building. How the great has fallen.
And a MRT track that wakes you up in the morning…
AC Hotel KL Swimming Pool
Not a very big pool, to be honest. There is also a gym, supposedly.
Did not use AC Hotel KL Swimming Pool so no comments π
Conclusion : To Stay or Not to Stay
It is actually surprisingly to say this but a YES. I am a sucker for premium level hotels but this hotel is quite good. It is clean, it is new and the staff are friendly. Most importantly, it is pretty affordable and allows me to clock up the nights I needed.
The MRT and LRT accessibility are just a killer ! It is SO SO FANTASTIC and the KL MRT/LRT system is pretty good. Grab ride is of course cheap in KL.
I enjoyed the relatively accessibility of the hotel to key shopping areas such as Bukit Bintang and the new The Exchange TRX… expensive mall π
Totally enjoyed my stay at AC Hotel Kuala Lumpur !!
