I had a one night stay this week at the Sofitel Singapore City Centre. It was right in the middle of the Phase Two (Heightened Alert) of the Covid period in Singapore where there are certain restrictions in the stay in the hotel.
Sofitel Singapore City Centre
The Sofitel Singapore City Centre is located at the Gucci Tower, right above the Tanjong Pagar MRT station. There is no free parking for hotel guests so I had to take a Grab to the hotel.
The entrance to the hotel is on the side of the Gucci Tower, facing Peck Seah Street. At the entrance, you will do the SafeEntry stuff but the actual lobby is on the 5th floor.
Now. The location of the hotel, right in the middle of Tanjong Pagar, is very important yet again in this covid period. This is because we cannot eat out (or eat in) so you have to pack food back from the various food outlets around the hotel area. Now, any self respecting foodie will tell you that around Tanjong Pagar, food is never an issue. There are so many good food and in so many price ranges, that you will have no problem finding food. The only issue is that you have pack them back to your hotel room to eat… And then dispose of them after.
The Sofitel Singapore City Centre lobby is pretty great and you get a free drink too. Of course, you cannot drink it at the bar (below) but have to take it back to your room.
I was on the 18th floor.
And the walk to my hotel room
Luxury Club Room
I was given the Luxury Club room but it is no use in today’s Covid world. Kindly note that due to Covid19, access to Virgin Active Fitness Club and Virgin Active Fitness Kit will be suspended until further notice.
I have a short video on the room on Youtube so here’s it is. Do subscribe and like 🙂

Adding a Rollaway Bed at Sofitel Singapore City Centre
Now the room can fit yet another rollaway bed. At this HA period, only 2 person are allowed in each room and if you are going to have more than 2 person, they need to be in the same household.
So this rollaway bed was actually for my child which is great that it can actually fit into the room.
Compare the room before the rollaway bed and after.
Now I did not actually got a great view as you can tell 🙂
So do check with the reception and ask for a better view… 🙂
The contents are of the mini bar are free for this visit but hey.. there’s nothing much either 🙂
But if u are a Nespresso fan…
TV channels are pretty good too
Sofitel Singapore City Centre Breakfast in the Room
Breakfast is served, of course, in the room. You order the breakfast the night before and it gets sent to your room the next morning.
Nothing to shout about. Really. In fact, very disappointing. SHA style ? 🙂
Sofitel Singapore City Centre Swimming Pool
During this period, again, only two person per party can use the swimming pool and each use is 2 hours. I have no issues booking the pool (using the web page provided by the hotel) and the pool is pretty under-utilised.
So you will have a good time 🙂
(Sometimes I think doing a hotel staycation during the Covid period is not necessarily a bad thing. Especially for someone like me who hates crowds).
No one to fight with you for these.
Or even these
Or these
Or even better, right next to the pool.
The pool itself is not too big or not too small. You can have a little decent swim…..
With a little view to match
Definitely no Andaz or even Andaz King Room nor Ritz Carlton, but this hotel makes it up with good service and a great location.
