It was always been a dream when I was very young (and not so rich enough) to visit Hong Kong and watch a Cantopop concert in Hong Kong Coliseum. I wrote about my visit to Hong Kong Coliseum in this blog post in Sep 2010. It came true for me in 2024 as I was able to finally watch Jacky Cheung Concert in Hong Kong Coliseum or 紅館 !
But my desire to watch a Cantopop concert at 紅館 such as with Danny (not possible, he is dead), Anita (not possible, she is dead), Leslie (not possible, he is also dead), never seemed to come true…..
Luckily Jacky Cheung is still alive (and kicking) and has a whole series of concerts all over Asia called Jacky Cheung 60+ Concert Tour (張學友60+巡迴演唱會). And Jacky is indeed my most favourite Cantopop singer with so many good albums and songs that is in my iTunes and Spotify.
These concerts venues included Singapore, which I had a chance to watch too. It was such a great concert in Singapore. But as always, I wanted badly to be able to watch a Cantopop concert in Hong Kong. In home ground, Hong Kong Coliseum, where stars like Jacky, Alan, Leslie, Danny etc held their concerts before.
But he is now back home in Hong Kong and lucky for me, I also had the chance (due to a good friend) to watch his concert in Hong Kong Coliseum !
It was a dream came true !
Hung Hom MTR station
Hong Kong Coliseum 紅館 is right next to the Hung Hom MTR station and indeed it is a very new station now. Lots of tickets touts were outside the station when I visited it in the afternoon (to collect my authentic tickets from my friend).
Red is the name of the game 🙂
I thought the words 紅磡 were pretty well written !
Exit C3 is the way to Hong Kong Coliseum !
Jacky Cheung Concert in Hong Kong Coliseum in the afternoon
While waiting for my friend, I was able to take a few shots of the closest part of the Hong Kong Coliseum to the Hung Hom MTR station.
I am finally back at Hong Kong Coliseum since Sep 2010.
And Jacky Cheung 張學友60+巡迴演唱會 banners !
And I got my tickets !! I was almost afraid people going to rob me of the tickets. HA.
Walking from Tsim Sha Tsui to Hong Kong Coliseum
We met friends from Hong Kong in Tsim Sha Tsui, specifically at Hau Fook Street, where there are good local curry fish balls 咖喱魚蛋 and 雞蛋仔 too (although it is not as good as Lee Keung Kee 利強記北角雞蛋仔) and a box of “I-dont-know-what-it-is-but-I-am-not-asking”.
It was fun standing at the street and eating local food !
And yes, even though we took the MTR to Hong Kong Coliseum, it is actually also possible to walk from Tsim Sha Tsui to Hong Kong Coliseum (through 尖東 area, which I had stayed before and ate at the 靓靓车仔面 Leng Leng Che Chai Noodle shop, which I saw that night too).
So we did just that. Here’s a map of how we walked from Tsim Sha Tsui to Hong Kong Coliseum, building up my excitement of the Jacky Cheung concert at Hong Kong Coliseum !
Along the walk, we can see the Hong Kong Cross-Harbour Tunnel, which is the site of a movie and we can see the Tunnel entrance from the bridge over the expressway, which is the site of a political event. Amazing night. So far.
Jacky Cheung Concert in Hong Kong Coliseum at Night
And here we are ! At Jacky Cheung Concert in Hong Kong Coliseum !!!
And my tickets for the concert !!
We are sitting at the RED section so had to make quite a loop around the whole Hong Kong Coliseum to reach the entrance. But that gave me a chance to see the Hong Kong Coliseum at night too.
It was pretty exciting to queue outside the Coliseum and then walk into the actual section to be entered into the concert itself….
The view inside Hong Kong Coliseum
While I wished that the concert was a four sided one (you know, the singer standing in the middle of the concert hall, surrounded by the audience on all four sides).. as that was what I saw on many MTVs and KTVs and Youtube videos of Hong Kong concerts at Coliseum, this concert was a three sided one.
And here we are.. my dream came true..
I had excellent seats !

As a Hong Kong fan, it is hard to describe what a feeling to see the famous 香港體育館 or 紅館 as it is more commonly know.
I also had the famous ICE CREAM (HKD 40 !!) in the Hong Kong Coliseum too ! This must be one of the few concert halls that allow vendors to sell ice creams 🙂
Yes, baby, it was a dream finally come true. I was here at 紅館, at 香港體育館, at Hong Kong Coliseum, to watch a Cantopop concert. Jacky Cheung, no less.
