Cafe Kalia Shibuya

Readers of my blog know that one way that I always get “affected” about places to visit for food and holidays (especially in Hong Kong) is always through TVB programmes 🙂

Sometime this year, I saw this programme 東京攻略 by 杜如風 (you can see a summary of all the places she visited in Tokyo here at this ). In Episode 10, she introduced this place called Cafe Kalia which served fruits pancakes.

Inspired (actually being ordered by my family), I did research on how to go to that place. Actually it is very easy. It is at Shibuya and off we go !

At Shibuya station (another massive station in Tokyo), get yourself to the Hachiko exit/Shibuya Crossing. Since you are going to be there, do these 2 tourist thingie okie 🙂 Shibuya Crossing (blog post) and Hachiko (blog post).

Cross the Shibuya Crossing and off you go to the Cafe Kaili. It is located on the 9th floor of Modi Shibuya (which is a departmental store).

It is also near to Shibuya Apple Store.. so here’s a mandatory Apple Store photo of the Shibuya store (as this is Patnotebook.. ha ha).

Take note that you should go during lunch time (after 11 am) and not before as morning is the buffet pancake. What you want to eat is the Fruit Pancake that is only available after 11am :).

Cafe Kaili provides a guide to how to reach the restaurant in the morning (as Modi departmental store is not open till 11am so how do you get to the Cafe in the morning ?). Now since technically you don’t need this as you are going after 11 am but I find it useful for 2 reasons. Reason 1 is you can use it to get to the restaurant (without going through the departmental store) and reason 2 is MORE practical. You want to arrive earlier than 11 am to secure a place in the queue ! Yes, there’s a queue to get into the restaurant for the pancakes 🙂
