Today, I am sharing some information and videos on the famous Yatai Night Food Stalls at Fukuoka. This article is super late again. The visit was back in Nov 2019 but only today, I am writing about them. You can read all about my Fukuoka trip posting here too.

Where to find Yatai Night Food Stalls at Fukuoka
To be honest, for me, it was pretty easy as I was staying at the Grand Hyatt Fukuoka, and it was just a short walk (across the river) to the nearest Yatai Night Food Stalls at Fukuoka.
You can see this web site on Yatai at Fukuoka which also comes with a PDF map.
What are Yatai then ?
In Hong Kong, you can call them Dai pai dong. In Singapore, you don’t have them anymore (except in certain tourist places which are closed now anyway). In Fukuoka, Yatai can generally seat about seven or eight people and provide an atmospheric outdoor environment to enjoy various foods that are generally simple and filling.
There are lots and lots of Yatai stalls every night at the river side and you can see the Youtube video on this.
Just choose anyone with seats and point and try your best to order π
It is a touristy thing anyway so don’t worry π
Typical dishes enjoyed at yatai are grilled chicken skewers (yakitori), hot pot (oden) and most famously Hakata Ramen, a local noodle dish featuring relatively thin ramen noodles in a pork bone based soup (tonkotsu).
Yatai are typically open from around 6pm to around 2am
We ordered some stuff and ate our way to fullness.
Actually it is just for the experience of having Yatai Night Food Stalls at Fukuoka ! π
It is pretty nice to see all the Yatai store when you are done and walking across the river ! π
