The PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering hotel is a member of the Pan Pacific group and they have beautiful suites that I want to try out one day. But for now, they are also offering day stays for booking. Day stays are a great way to test out a hotel before deciding if you want to stay there for a weekend or a few days stay.
To be honest, it is not exactly the cheapest deal in town but the hotel and the room itself is really nice. The location of the hotel is very convenient right in the heart of down town Singapore. You can walk over to the nearby Hong Lim food centre for a nice bite of local food.
How to book PARKROYAL Pickering Day Stay
While I have the Discovery app, I found the easiest way to book a day stay at the PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering hotel is through the web site.
You can even choose the “DAY STAY” button to find the day stay rates.
The rates are $135 on a normal week day (before GST and taxes). This is slightly more expensive compared to Hilton day stay or even the very cheap and affordable Marriott Vagabond hotel. But this is a much better hotel to be fair.
It really depends on which day of the week you are staying. Fridays will actually be much more expensive.
Still, if you look closely at the benefits, it is a good deal actually.
First the number of hours is almost 12 hours. It is 11 hours but I am pretty sure arriving early 1/2 hour is not an issue.
The room is a Lifestyle room which is one level above the lead in room (Urban Room). As you can see later, it is a really nice room.
You also get $30 dining credits (which you can use with in room dining) to reduce the cost further. Free internet (of course). Gym and Swimming Pool access.
And of course, Nepresso Coffee.. HA HA.
And if you care about such things, the nicest “Care Pack” for covid 🙂
Of course, free parking is very important as parking is really expensive in the hotel. Speaking of that, the twisting and turning upwards and downwards ramp to the car park is pretty tight….
One thing which I found quite disappointing that the hotel does not seemed to care that I am a GHA Black member (one of the highest tier of Pan Pacific membership). No upgrade. Nothing. I will update that whether the day stay is even considered “one night” at the hotel (Hilton does. Marriott does.).
The Lifestyle Room
I was given room 1316. It is pretty interesting to walk to the room as it has a great view of the HDB flat and other older parts of Singapore (which has since been improved a lot).
The view…
The main door looks rustle 🙂
And the view from the main door of the room…
The room itself is really nice…. full of wood..
A very nice table for you to work from. That’s the purpose of a day stay, right 🙂
There is a coach but not sure if it looks comfortable for a night sleep….
The washroom is nice !!
Everything looks rather exposing but you can close the sliding doors to the toilet anyway 🙂
Bath Tub… bath tub is important… it looks kinda of weird… 🙂
While the WC and shower looks like there are one, in reality, they are two separate stalls.
Love the amount of toiletries.. this is not a stingy hotel..
No plastic bottles in this hotel 🙂
Controls for lights..
The bar and the wardrobe is pretty well concealed in the wooden wall…
The view from my room is Hong Lim Park… the Speaker’s corner in Singapore (still there ? I don’t even know….)
Swimming Pool and Gym
The swimming pool is really small. At the 5th level. But the fun part must be the cabanas which is many for you to choose from…
But I am guessing this must be the crown jewel for Cabanas 🙂
The pool itself is really quite small but then this is a city hotel..
The gym, is really good though.. looks very comprehensive but what do I know 🙂
Conclusion
For a day stay, with the free parking, $30 dining credit, pretty long stay hours (11 hours) and a very nice room, I would say the stay is pretty worth it !
PARKROYAL Pickering is a very pretty and nice hotel !
One final thing. A day stay at the ParkRoyal Hotels (both this and the Beach Road) does NOT count as a night.
This is in sharp contrast to Marriott and Hilton. You might want take note of this. Especially if you are trying to hit “nights” for elite stays qualifications. Which is impossible now with lack of travel.
