Park Avenue Rochester Hotel is a hotel at the Rochester area at Buona Vista area. I tried a day stay at this hotel recently and have came back for a few times too. It is reasonable price and is close to Star Vista so making it a nice choice.

What is a Day Stay
During the Covid lockdown period, when there are almost no tourists, many hotels started this trend of offering day stays to locals. Indeed, during that period of time, we have many fantastic offers of reasonably priced day stays in five stars hotels. I managed to even fulfil my Marriott Platinum status with day stays at local Marriott hotel. One of my favourite Marriott hotels during that period of time was the Vagabond Hotel. It costs only SGD117 including taxes. But now it seemed to have stopped offering day stays. Indeed many hotels have stopped offering day stays.
So now, I found that the Park Avenue Rochester Hotel Day Stay can be a good replacement.
Booking the Park Avenue Rochester Hotel Day Stay
I used a web site called dayuse.sg to make a booking. It offers many day stay options in Singapore (some of which, er.. u know, is Hotel 81 type…) but many are at very good hotels (although some are ridiculous in pricing). Booking through the app cost nothing (I know.. not even a credit card is needed) and hence it offers 100% cancellation. I was quite sceptical if it works even. But it did worked.
Park Avenue Rochester Hotel
Located near to Buona Vista MRT and right next to the Star Vista mall, Park Avenue Rochester Hotel is what I called a no-frills hotel. Because of its proximity to the mall and the MRT station, you can enjoy good food and some shopping around the area too.
And did I mentioned that it is right next to one of the most pretty Starbucks in Singapore, the Rochester Starbucks 🙂
Or you can visit Dr Chee’s famous Orange and Teal restaurant here at Rochester Mall, right next to the hotel.
The swimming pool is small for a hotel and the gym is not too big either. You probably will not spend too much time here.
And for those who drive, there is no free parking either. So you have to pay for parking. You can pay for a cheaper parking coupon from the hotel at SGD6++ or something which should cover about 70% of your day stay parking (as compared to paying full parking). Oh whatever.
Park Avenue Rochester Hotel Lobby
The lobby, like the hotel, is simple and easy on the eye. It is the first thing you will see when you enter the hotel and the last thing you will see when you leave. And there is no way of avoiding the hotel stafff at the hotel lobby when you enter or leave the hotel. Some guys and gals will want to know 🙂
Park Avenue Rochester Hotel Day Stay Room
Since I am no member of any Park Avenue hotels, I guess I must have got the lead in room.
Like the hotel, the room is simple and clean. The light woody colour is my favourite when it comes to hotel. Don’t give me those heavy dark oakwood type 🙂
But there is not even a bottle of water. Not. A. Single. Bottle. Of. Drinking. Water.

The toilet does have a bath tub (if you are keen for that.. in a day stay room).. else it is clean and simple..
The view is not bad… NTU Alumni. Guess some people will find it amusing to see NTU Alumni when they day stay with their NTU girlfriend(s) 🙂
And incidentally this is also the site of the upcoming condo called Blossoms by the Park. Right between Park Avenue Hotel and the NTU Alumni building. Yes. This green patch is where the Blossoms by the Park will be.
Summary
Day Stay rooms have a specific reason for their existence. You can take a break from the WFH schedule. You can take a break from the family. You can even work from hotel or do some important personal work that you don’t want others to see.
I am guessing for this price of SGD117 (no free parking), Park Avenue Rochester Hotel Day Stay Room is a good one. I still miss my Vagabond Club room still. However, I am starting to find another good replacement for day stay at Capri by Fraser at Changi.
