Just saw on the HOTEL GROOVE Shinjuku Facebook page that today is HOTEL GROOVE Shinjuku’s first year anniversary. Wow.
So I just have to write this blog post (as usual, many months late :p). I stayed at the HOTEL GROOVE Shinjuku on two occasions during my recent trip to Tokyo (more specifically Hokkaido, where I travelled from Tokyo to Hokkaido and then from Hokkaido back to Tokyo).
Even during my stay in Tokyo, I stayed two nights (26th Dec 2023 and 27th Dec 2023) and then one night (29th Dec 2023 to 30th Dec 2023). In between, we went to Izu which I will share separately a blog post.
Anyhow, the two stays (and three nights) WERE AMAZING !!!!!!! This is a BEAUTIFUL HOTEL WITH SUPERB VIEWS and EXCELLENT LOCATION.
Okay. I have summarised the stay. Beautiful rooms. Superb views. Excellent Location. Let’s dive into them.
One note is that I am a Pan Pacific Discovery Titanium member so I got pretty good benefits when I stay at the hotel. So my experiences might be different from yours if you are not a Pan Pacific Discovery member. It is pretty easy to get to Titanium actually.
Very cool hotel..
HOTEL GROOVE Shinjuku Location
Of course, the HOTEL GROOVE Shinjuku is at Shinjuku. What do you think.
It is actually at the infamous Kabukicho district but it is actually at the edge of the Kabukicho area. In fact, it is at a newly cleaned up area and the hotel is on the top floors of this beautiful building called Shinjuku Tokyu Kabukicho Tower.
You might struggle to find the hotel if you are NOT familiar with Shinjuku station but actually all you need is to find your way to Kabukicho. It is just at the entrance (if you will) of the Kabukicho area.
Like you know, you see this famous sign…
But instead of walking into the area, you turn left, spot a MacDonald and then you can easily find your way there. Something like this…..
And don’t you just love Japan..
Airport Limo Bus from Shinjuku Tokyu Kabukicho Tower
Right at the bottom of the building is the bus stop for Airport Limo to and from the Airport. Yes.. Amazing ! That’s where it is so amazing for us as we go back to Singapore via Narita Airport (while the wife goes back by Haneda Airport). We all got to our airports by the Limo Bus from this location.
If you are searching and booking your Limo Bus from or to Airport on the Japan Limo Bus web site, the station you want to find is Shinjuku Tokyu Kabukicho Tower.
Like this..
And so right at the hotel first floor, you will see the time tables…
And once a while, a Limo Bus…
So the location of HOTEL GROOVE Shinjuku is very good. At Shinjuku, at Kabukicho, a few minutes walk only to the famous Shinjuku Station. And there are lots of good food around the place. And although I don’t recommend this, if you have children and if THEY MUST HAVE Conveyor Belt Sushi, there is a Kura Sushi Nishishinjuku nearby too. Just kill me…
The Lobby
The lobby is on the 18th Floor of the Building…
The automated check in and check out machines worked really well…
Super cool lobby..
Beautiful sunshine on the lobby in the morning too.. really nice place to look out..
The Lobby where the actual staff are at.. if you don’t want to use the automated check in and check out machines..
And a nice walk to the rooms… the carpet floor is very nice too..
My room for the first stay was on the 25th floor..
Hotel Groove Shinjuku Amazing Views
Oh my god.. Don’t get me started on this… I mean it is like watching “Lost in Translation” views from Park Hyatt Tokyo but this is not bad too..
Let me share some amazing views photos.
At night
Like this photo showed how close we are to the views from the bed…
In the Day. This really makes me think of “Lost In Translation” movie..
From the bed..
Honestly this view can make me stay in whole day and night, just having …
Hotel Groove Shinjuku Garden Suite
As I always do, I booked the lead-in room at this hotel. But because of my Pan Pacific titanium status, on the first stay, I was upgraded to a Garden Suite.
Wow.. what a beautiful room.
It has a nice bedroom with great views, a living room with a small “kitchenette” which has a very very very important thing, A WASHING MACHINE !! If you just came from Hokkaido as we did (and even though we did washed a lot of clothes at Coin Laundry AQUA Hosui Susukino), you will love a washing machine.
The living room..
The kitchenette with a nice bar table..
A Microwave Oven..
And yes sir.. A WASHING MACHINE..
And the bedroom…. so so comfortable..
The toilets at the Garden Suite is pretty nice too.. but what impressed me most are the toiletries that are really environmentally friendly. Including Paper Razor that is paper made !
Toothpaste in small packet
Disposable body towel..
And don’t you love the RAINBOW COLOURS toothbrush..
Hotel Groove Shinjuku Premium Room
When we were back from Izu for our second stay at the hotel, we were (unfortunately) not upgraded to a Suite but this time to just a Premium Room (which is of course still better than the lead in room).
This does not have a separate bedroom and living room type of layout and most importantly there was NO washing machine !!
We had to use the hotel laundry room. More on that later.
Sharing some photos of the not so bad lah Premium Room, from this spoilt brat.
There is a bath tub this time !
Hotel Groove Shinjuku Laundry Room
So since we don’t have a washing machine, we had to use the Hotel Laundry Room.
Depending on your luck, it can be very busy or not so busy.
There is actually a TV screen in your room to show you the latest progress of the cleaning.
And you can get drinks here and Ice too..
There is also this cool machine which we used to clean our son’s stuffed toys
Conclusion : To Stay or Not To Stay
Absolutely for me. If I go back to Tokyo AND if I am still a Discovery GHA Titanium member, I will definitely stay at the Shinjuku Hotel Groove. It has such a good location, many great food around (and many Lawson around too) and the rooms have such a nice view…
Definitely to Stay Again.
