One of the hotels I stayed during my Hokkaido trip was the Holiday Inn Sapporo Susukino Hotel. I stayed at this hotel after my trip to Niseko and before going back from Sapporo to Tokyo via the Shinkansen. So it was a one night stay only.
This is the second IHG hotel I stayed at Sapporo. The first was ANA Crowne Plaza Sapporo. The two hotels are quite different though 🙂

Holiday Inn Sapporo Susukino Hotel is very near to Susukino subway station and that means it is very near to my Nikka Whisky “Beard” Man 🙂

Two food places for you to try out too. One, I did not try, is the Sapporo Genghis Khan (Main Shop). The other, which I highly recommend you to eat something first before going as it is a long queue, is the Ramen Shingen : Authentic Local Ramen in Sapporo !
Room at Holiday Inn Sapporo Susukino Hotel
As compared to ANA Crowne Plaza Sapporo, my Diamond status at IHG was highly welcomed and given lots of recognition.
The room is pretty cool. I booked for 3 person (2 adults and one child), and this greeted me when I entered. Yes, 3 Futons 🙂
There is a small TV at the foot of the futons. That door on the left leads to the toilet.
The toilet is very small and no bath tub 🙂
Now one thing which I must say is that there was NO air conditioning during my one night stay. When I enquired, the staff said it was winter (it was in December 2023) and there was no air conditioning. You will have to open the windows for cold air.
Not something I enjoyed. Luckily it was for only 1 night stay.
Is this common in Japan ? First time for me 🙂
Breakfast at Holiday Inn ANA Sapporo Susukino Hotel
Is just brilliant. The selection is amazing. And the food is very well cooked and very tasty. It has a damn good vibe of “I am back at home” kind of feel. You will not have expected at that this sort of small hotel but it was great !!

Laundry at Holiday Inn ANA Sapporo Susukino Hotel
There is a laundry room at Holiday Inn ANA Sapporo Susukino Hotel which we used for 1 hour and gave up. It was too slow and did not seemed to dry the clothes well. Perhaps it was also due to this family who was so selfish and took turns to just keep using the one of two machines there and just left the rest of us to one machine.
We really needed to wash our clothes as we just came back from Niseko without any clean laundry. The irony 🙂
Nevertheless, because of this, we ventured out of the hotel and found this Laundromat which was superb and I will share in the next blog post 🙂
Holiday Inn ANA Sapporo Susukino Hotel : To stay or not to stay
It was a good hotel, a nice breakfast, great staff and a superb location. I just could not enjoy the night’s sleep though without air con 🙂
Onwards to Tokyo via the Shinkansen.
