Yes… another TVB location again ! The Sai Wan Swimming Shed (西環鐘聲泳棚). This is like Hong Kong’s answer to Perth’s Crawley Edge Boatshed aka Blue Boat House. 🙂
This was shown in at least 2 episodes (episode 20 and episode 22) in the show, My Ages Apart (誇世代). It was about the original intention of the government to close down this place and how the actors in the show rallied the residents of Hong Kong to support the swimming shed and kept it going as a historical monument.

So how do you get there?
Well you can follow me, the stupid one who walked all the way from the new Kennedy Town MRT to the shed.
Or you can take a bus (mini bus 43M) and align just opposite the shed 🙂
Either way, you need to get to Kennedy Town MTR station. This is a new station in the Hong Kong line extension.
Do exit by C Exit:
You will be at Forbes Road. You can find the mini bus station nearby (for Bus 43M to take you to the shed) but assuming you are walking, this is the route…
You will want to walk from Forbes to Victoria Road (which will lead all the way to Sai Wan Swimming Shed).
You know you are okay when you see the “wellcome” store at Victoria Road.
From this point, just walk along Victoria Road to the shed…
You will pass through housing estates, condominiums, and some industrial places. It is not a difficult walk. Just terrible hot and sweaty during summer (when I was there). Should be nice during winter 🙂

If you walk you will reach the shed entrance first (on your right). It is just before a bus stop outside the shed.
If you take the bus, you will pass by the shed entrance for a short bit and alight at this bus stop:
The buses that come to this bus stop are bus 1 and bus 43M:
The entrance to the shed is quite difficult to spot actually as it is not really clear you are there…. it is just next to the bus stop that has buses that go back to the Kennedy MTR.

It is then a walk down to the shed… a pretty steep walk during a wet morning for me..
And tata… the shed…
But of course, the most important is the Instagram-ready swimming jetty…
Just like in Perth, people are queuing up

And oh, two old uncles were swimming in the sea (by going down from the jetty…. this is the Swimming Shed after all!). Amazing fit uncles !! This is how you will go down to the sea to swim.
You will also recognise this “platform” area from TVB serial too..
A visit to this place is very different from normal Hong Kong shopping and food !! So do try it one day and take some great Instagram photos ! 🙂
