Walking the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City was one of my most unforgettable experience in my life. The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Completed in 1883, it connects the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn by spanning the East River. At 5,989 feet (1825 m), it was the longest suspension bridge in the world from its opening until 1903, and the first steel-wire suspension bridge.
Why is it walkable.. cause it has six lanes for motor vehicles, with a separate walkway along the centerline for pedestrians and bicycles. Walk it during sun set times and you will be in a most romantic mood ! 🙂

Walking from Manhattan over to Brooklyn is great as you can then visit a few great places in Brooklyn which is near to the bridge end. For example, Pizza and Ice Cream. I will show you in the later blogs.
How do you get to Brooklyn Bridge.. well, there’s a sidewalk entrance on Park Row, just across from City Hall Park (use the New York Subway and take the 4, 5, or 6 train to Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall). It is not easy to find and frankly you might even be a bit scare to walk into the entrance but once you are in, you can very quickly appear at the head of the Brooklyn Bridge !
