Have you ever tried a Capsule hotel. I tried one in Singapore recently and thought I would share the photos and my experiences. The one I tried is called the The Pod Singapore Capsules Hotel.
Located at downtown Beach Road, it is near to the Kampong Glam area that boost lots of good food.
The magnificent Sultan Mosque (Masjid Sultan) is just a stone throw away.
They even have high tech self check in counter on the reception floor (that’s the 3rd floor). Which also have the buffet breakfast area, a fridge and basically a place to hang out.
Your pod will be in one of the rooms in the next few floors. Mine was Room 3 on fifth floor:
They must be doing quite well.. so many rooms…
And welcome to your shoe locker just outside the rooms. You must take it off and keep it here first you go to the rooms or the showers and toilets.
My Crocs in my locker:
Some ground rules:
On to the pods:
Mine was at the top.. it is a little troublesome to climb up and down actually.
There is a locked luggage area (quite deep.. and it is locked electronically with your card key)
The view from inside:
With my sexy legs:
There is a screen if you need a little privacy (it kinds of block the air flow though.. making it a little more warmer inside… a portable fan will help. And while you are at it, do bring a pair of eye shade to sleep..
Two nice pillows:
A side table is provided for you..
Which is useful and nice for a laptop:
A single power plug only (so bring your multi plugs !) and a switch for the Pod Light (basically a light at the head of the bed)
A towel and a hanger (with a Do not Disturb sign.. where do I hang it !! :p) completes the pod:
In most of the cases, your concern might be the sharing of the wash area. It is very clean and very nice in my opinion. Perhaps due to the fact that I arrived in the afternoon where there might not be so many people using it. But I think it should be fine ! You will be okay 🙂
The shower:
Definitely a good value hotel for the solo traveller, or the buddy traveller. Not for couples and not for family… but then that’s not what such hotels are for ! 🙂
