I used to stay at Fort Road so the Tanjong Rhu Bao shop is very convenient to me then. A lot of people have tried the buns and they have a few outlets too. For example, I go to the one at Thomson (near to Novena MRT) a few times too.
Anyway, I went to the Tanjong Rhu one on Friday and bought a box of 10 char siew pao for my colleagues.

What is also well known is that in the same (very small) coffee shop is a Wan Tan Mee store that is wildly popular too. The soup base is very nice (I just cannot stop drinking it) and the noodles are just well cooked. The char siew is a little small though. The wait can be quite long during lunch time. I waited 30 mins on Friday.
So I find the best way is to …. go and try out the Wan Tan mee and then pack a box of 10 char siew bao for $6. Nice combination ! 🙂
