I love playing my PS3 on my LED TV and Yamaha YSP 2200 Soundbar which produces great sounds from the games and add to the atmosphere of the games.
However, there are certain times in one’s life where such luxury goes away :). Arrival of a baby. Neighbours who do not appreciate such sounds. And busy working life that forced you to play at night. And no, no one in the right mind, wants to hear the monsters attacking you in a Final Fantasy XIII-2 game at midnight.
So I bought this during a visit to the shopping centre. A PS3 PULSE wireless stereo headset – Elite Edition:
Available also in Amazon as usual at a very good price compared to Singapore:

Unboxing:
Just 3 items. A USB Wireless Transmitter. A Headphone and a 3.5mm standard mini four-conductor cable (straight plug on one end, right angle on the other) and a completely useless documentation manual π
As regular PS3 players can recognize, a mini-USB cable is required to charge it and none is included in the package !! You have to buy separately or use the one that comes with PS3 (which is fine.. it is seldom used anyway except to charge the PS3 controller…)
You can also see that most of the controls are in the headphones left and right sides… the MUTE u can see above and others as per the photos below:
The Mode button is NOT documented and found out from Amazon that..”The Mode button cycles through the following sequence, each of which is announced by a female voice: Game, Music, Movie, Shooter, Fighting, Racing. ”
VSS = virtual surround sound
The Headphones:
The USB transmitter with a PS3:
FYI: The headset DOES include a mic (something not obvious from the photos since it’s built into one of the ear cups and there is no “mic” sticking out). Which actually suits me a lot. I dont need the mic (so far) and dont want the sticking out Boom π
