This was the hotel we stayed during our stay in downtown Perth. We stayed for 3 nights (2 with the tour group and 1 on our own).
Depending on which floor you got your room (which, I guess, depends on what type of rooms you booked), the experience can be quite different. For the first 2 nights, we were allocated rooms as part of the tour package and the quality was really not so good. The rooms were really old looking. And the toilet was a near disaster to me.
On the 3rd night, it was my own booking through internet and the room was so much better. The room was newly renovated and was much bigger than the first two nights. Guess the price was different :). However, for the first two nights, the rooms had two double beds (which was good for big families with tour groups, I guess), while for the 3rd night, we had only 1 double bed. HA.
Anyway, this hotel is in a good location. There are free public buses (as long as you travel within the city) to CBD (where most of the shopping are) and to the Elizabeth Quay and the famous Bell Tower. You can also get to Fremantle from the hotel by public bus or even better, by the train from the CBD area. The train ride was very comfortable and nice (and cheap, if you go as a family.. Perth is amazingly family friendly place). The Perth Mint is also just a few streets away.
And finally you can take a free public bus right to the King’s Park which is a great place for the day (and for kids too).
And yes, you can even get to Blue Boat house by Uber cheaply.
A google map of the hotel vs attractions. Hay Street etc are where the shopping areas are. Apple Store is also reachable by foot or by buses ๐
Try to get the better view rooms (which we got, ironically, for the first two nights :))
Photo of the first 2 nights room:
Toiletries. No toothbrush and toothpaste !
The view for the first 2 nights were good..
We even caught the moon disappearing… at dawn.
Photos of the better room for the 3rd night. But just 1 double bed.
The toilet was huge this time.
Overall, I like the location. The staff are friendly and good too. And there is a convenience shop just opposite the hotel and a coffee place (the Coffee Club) too. Down the road, there is a Japanese sushi place that is currently run by a Singaporean ! WOW ! ๐
And for parents, there is a Langley Park Public Playground about 5 mins walk from the hotel. Very nice place !
And a Langley Park is a very nice park too..
Perth really feels like a place where one can have a great family life.
