It is quite easy to get from Perth to Fremantle. We took a train from Perth downtown railway station to Fremantle Railway Station and a short 5-10 mins walk later, we are at the famous Fremantle Market ! 🙂
Here’s where the train station is in Perth. You can see it is right at the downtown area and hence pretty easy to get to (e.g. we took a free bus ride from Pan Pacific Perth, ride along the St George’s Terrace and stop by William’s Street and a slow walk to the station !).
Friendly maps all around:
Perth Underground entrance which helps make the walk to the station easy.
And it is a beautiful station. Do buy the family tickets if you are going as a family. Very worth it ! Perth is a family friendly place !
The train to Fremantle leaves at Platform 7:
Check out the train route:
The train is very comfortable. It is more like our MRT than a train. And look at how friendly it is to wheel chair users and even have USB power sockets for your charging !
That is my iPhone charging cable 🙂
The journey is not that long (and most of the time it is above ground so you have plenty to see, including the sea port of Fremantle):
And you will arrive at the grand old station in Fremantle:
Cross the road outside the Fremantle Railway Station and walk down Market Street. Drop by this second hand book store if you want.
The famous landmarks:
Fremantle Markets is just opposite this technical school. Nice building.

Lots to see and eat at the markets.. but I don’t consider it cheap… really touristy 🙂
Dont forget to try this coffee… heaven !!
