lyf Funan Singapore is a relatively new entry to the Singapore hotels market. It does have a great reputation for being innovative and having a very unique concept of co-living in a hotel.
Quite a few hotels in Singapore has started this practice but I personally think lyf Funan Singapore did it the best.

Co-living in a hotel or so….
The idea of co-living in a hotel is that your hotel does not just become a hotel. It is kind of a homely place. You can meet fellow travellers easier, you can wash your laundry, you can cook together etc. No more of those cold, sad, boring hotels……
To that end, lyf Funan Singapore has those facilities and more. They have a communal lounge which is a great area to do work (with power plugs and all), they have a hip looking laundry room (so hip and cool that it is not hidden in some corner of the hotel but RIGHT AT THE ENTRANCE….).

And a freaking cool social kitchen that I am tempted to ask if it can be rented for cooking classes ๐

And the gym features a life-sized giant hamster wheel that functions as a quirky treadmil. Weird ๐

Unique as it is, it is still a hotel to me.. just more colourful… a little like W hotels worldwide.… ๐
Unique floor themes
Each floor features a theme… a very unique wall mural greets you on arriving on your floor
9th floor

11th floor with punching bags and gloves.. my son will enjoy this.

And the doors are uniquely different from each other … no bland looking hotel doors here… they open with a mobile key on your handphone app.

And come with a chalkboard tooโฆ for your creativityโฆ maybe “do not disturb, I am working” or maybe “do not knock even if we are making lots of noise….” ๐

Such creativity… from Patnotebook.. I am so so so creative.. so shamelessly advertising…

On each floor, there is supposedly a water dispenser and trash area but it is close due to covid.

lyf Funan Singapore Workspace Package
This has become very popular (second to staycationing in a local hotel to use up your money or your hotel points). Working from a hotel room in this time of Covid-19 is so common as many hotels (upon opening their doors again), has chosen as a new source of revenue to cover up the lack of demand from tourists (er.. no tourists now..). Before this, I never heard of a single “work from hotel” before.
I mean there are only so many staycations you can sell and those usually are the weekends too). Hence to pick up the slack during the day, many hotels started a work from hotel packages. You can read about them here and here. Or the latest one from Fairmount Hotel called Ultimate Daycation. What a name ๐
Just to be clear, this is no “transit hotel” day use, ok.
At lyf Funan, they have a work from hotel package called SINGAPORE WORKSPACE PACKAGE.
For the above package, you can choose a room (studio for 1 person etc) and pay for an affordable rate ($70++ for a studio) for the whole day time (9am to 7pm) to work in your hotel room. Looking around the internet, this is a very generous package of working hours as most hotels only allow for 4-6 hours at a very much higher price.
As it is a hotel (yes it is a hotel, co-living or not), the room comes with a proper shower, a good size table and very good free wifi and also lots of power plugs and USB plugs.
You have everything you needed for a good work from hotel… EXCEPT A BED ๐
No. there is NO BED in the room… No bed for you to sleep in ๐
You are supposed to work, remember. You want a bed, stay at home, I guess.. This is quite unique to lyf Funan. For most of the other hotels, their work from hotel does include a bed….
lyf Funan Singapore One of a Kind Studio
lyf Funan Singapore One of a Kind Studio is just one of the available room types in lyf Funan.
I am featuring it here as it is probably the one that you would choose for your “SINGAPORE WORKSPACE PACKAGE”.

However, although the photos do have a bed, remember there is no bed for “SINGAPORE WORKSPACE PACKAGEl” package. The bed is removed and you have then a huge flat area to work on. Good for working on your project plans on A3 paper :p

Okie. Enough of photos with a bed to tempt you. In some of the rooms, the view is pretty good… I love these views of the Central Fire Station and the old ACPS building that has now become the Singapore Archives.

The rest of the room for the SINGAPORE WORKSPACE PACKAGE are the same as you would for a room. The toilet for shower is clean and nice.

There are separate shampoo, conditioner and body soap, which is really nice as compared to many cheaper hotels.

The sink is also pretty cool… and comes with proper hand washer and even cups.

Of course, we are here to work.. you can work on the desk next to the bed….

Or the one at the foot of the bed… (oh wait.. there is no bed.. ha..). And if you have a good view, you can look out once a while while you work.. nice.

Proper power plugs and USB charging ports ensure that you will never run out of juice for your laptop and your handphone. Bring on the Zoom calls !!

Conclusion
I would highly recommend the lyf Funan Singapore Workspace package for its cheap price, very long hours of room usage and its location of being close to City Hall MRT and inside the very nice Funan mall with lots of good food and shopping.
Hopefully one day W Hotel Sentosa will feature work from W Hotel Sentosa…. and the view will be great then for working from a hotel ๐
