Eyefinity with Sapphire Radeon HD5750

A long while ago, I wrote about the Sapphire Radeon HD5750 that I had bought.

The reason I bought it was, eventually, to run 3 monitors at the same time with the Eyefinity technology: AND Eyefinity Technology

I finally managed to fix it up recently. First, the hardware involved. Of course, you needed 3 monitors. I have 3 Dells. One is an old Dell 2408WFPb (which I loved still a lot) and two are new Dell 24 inch monitors that are just on the market not too long ago (2412M.. cheap and nice)…

  • One Dell 2408WFPb which has HDMI, DVI and Displayport
  • Two Dell 2412M which has DVI and Displayport
  • 3 Monoprice cables which includes DVI cable, Displayport cable and HDMI cable

This is how it is fixed up for my case.

From the Sapphire Radeon HD5750, I used Displayport for a Dell 2412M, a DVI cable for the Dell 2412M and finally HDMI cable for the Dell 2408WFPb.

My Dell 2408 is set up in the middle of the 3 monitors while the 2 Dell 2412M flanks it on the left and right.

Once this was set up and you boot up the PC, the excellent software accompanying the card, Catalyst Control Center, make it really easy to set up the monitors, which allows you to set up which is the PRIMARY monitor etc, how to the monitors are arranged (and hence how your mouse will move from the left most to the right most) and also save the different settings as presets (e.g. you can have 3 monitors set up as 1 preset and then 1 single monitor for normal use as 1 preset). It is easy to use…

And so here’s how it looks for my case.

Firstly, let’s see what a normal desktop extended over 3 screens. That means u can move your windows from one monitor to another. This is still 1 window per monitor. So at most u get 3 windows at 3 monitors concurrently.

Example:

Secondly, you can also have 1 window repeated over 3 monitors. Like one of those LED, LCD, Plasma display shops where one video play over 3 screens:

Example:

And finally, here’s the best part….

A single WINDOW over 3 screens. That means one window is stretched over 3 screens.

I like AMD’s description. Surround Sight (as in Dolby Digital, Surround Sound.. get it… grin)

Example 1 : A wallpaper extended over 3 screens:

Example 2 : Another wallpaper extended over 3 screens:

Example 3 : The MT4 (Forex trading and charting sofware) that are extended over 3 screens. Now you can really see the history of a currency trading !

Try it and you can have great productivity gains…Or a very giddy head sometimes. HA HA.

  1. Hi, thanks for your articles, it’s very useful. Just want to check with you if i only have two monitors, can i use one HDMI and one DVI to enable dual display?

    Thanks.

  2. Mine is using Radeon 7770 which i bought long time ago. Been looking on how to extend my desktop and it brought me to your blog. Mind to share what are those horizontal lines in your MT4?

    • Mmmm… I no longer use this method so i dun recall… Later i will check my other MT4 to see if i still kept this template. Some support and resistance drawing lines…
