One activity you can do in Bali is to go for White Water Rafting. The basic is at Ayung River while the more daring one can go for the Telaga Waja. I went to the basic Ayung River which is okay for beginner but actually not too exciting for me as I had tasted more difficult and exciting routes at other parts of Indonesia.
Anyway, the company I chose was Bali Sobek. It is not the cheapest (in fact, I think it is the most expensive) but I think it is safer, the service is better and also the route is the longest and better organized. They have meals at the end of the route and also proper toilets for changing etc. I think it is good choice as I have a kid with me so safety is important. Remember to tip your rafter at the end of the trip, okay ?
Here’s the route on Google Map:
Basically, there will be transfer from your hotel (to and from) and they will pick you up. The journey from hotel to the starting point is about 1 hour to 1.5 hours. After that you walk a little bit (ignore the vendors) to the starting hut where you can see a video. After that you wear the nice life jackets and here’s the fun…
You got to walk 500 steps down from the start to the river. Down down down… not easy with a helmet, a life jacket and a rafting oak. But it is a walk down steps through a rainforest..

For my journey, we made 2 stops. At each stop, people will come offer you drinks but you might not want to take. It is not free ! 🙂
