The EverDesk Max was my first ever standing desk. I wanted something that can be adjusted to the different users in my family (a child, a teenager, two tall parents etc). The current table I have is pretty bad in terms of ergonomics and I thought a sit-stand desk might help some what. I don’t need a large table (wait, I cannot have a large table as there is not much space… sigh.. the modern small rooms we have) so I am going for a 120cm by 60cm desk.
Should be enough for my MacBook Pro but then I am wondering I can actually out a Mac mini (the latest M2 ?) with a monitor on it too.
This article is about how I ordered and unboxed and assembled the EverDesk Max Standing Desk, Singapore’s #1 Ergonomic Adjustable Standing Desk & Table.

Ordering the EverDesk Max
Note this is a self purchased product.
I used the EverDesk web site to order. Somehow there was a coupon (there is always a coupon. Sign up for their email and you will get one somehow) that reduced the prices. I ordered on a Sunday and the immediate delivery date available (You get to choose the date) was Tuesday. In the end, I asked for Wednesday but it is pretty nice to see how quickly it was to deliver.
In addition to the 120cm by 60cm desk I ordered (the exact space in the room is not that big), I also ordered two more accessories which I thought I would need.
Cable Tray (https://everdeskplus.com/products/cable-management-spine)
Cable Spine (https://everdeskplus.com/products/cable-management-spine)
In the end, I only used one of them. The cable tray was huge (wow nice !) and a god send. Not so sure about the cable spine. I ended up using one of those cheap cable organiser from Shoppe 🙂
Delivery of the EverDesk Max
The EverDesk came this way. Two boxes for the actual product (the table frame and the actual table top) and the rest are boxes for the accessories.
Unboxing the EverDesk Max
Let’s open the white EverDesk Max frame box first
The frame and all its parts (legs etc)
The screws… there are spares ones too.. pretty comprehensive.. you will not end up using all of them. Oh yes comes with wire organiser too. And two Allen keys.
The assembly manual. Very helpful. As it tells you the exact packet of screws to use.
The health coach which is like the controller for the table to bring it up or down. Comes with 3 pre-set settings. Comes with control to set minimum height so that you don’t crush your dick when it comes down or maximum height so that you will not hit the ceiling which it goes up. Remind you to stand up or go for a coffee.. all the good stuff.
And the most interestingly part, an instruction card to use for step guard.
And let’s unbox my “natural wood” table top
Beautiful
Installation Video For Latest EverDesk Max
Ahead of the delivery, the company will send you mails. You really cannot fault the company for its communication. There is an email for every step of the way.
One of the mail prepares you for the self installation process. That’s pretty neat.
Also as per the email, the latest set of EverDesk+ Max comes with a slight “upgrade” in the installation and assembly process.
It allows the installation to be a little faster (and different) from those videos you might have seen on YouTube. It relates specifically to the installation of the “lock buckle”. You use your feet to step on the buckle 🙂
The installation video on YouTube. The one they sent.
Deciding how to start the Assembly
Now this is optional but you might want to plan a little on how you want to start the assembly of the EverDesk+ Max desk. This is because when you are finally done at the end, you will need to “flip the table over” and there is a small matter of flipping over the correct side where you will not damage the health coach (ie the front of the desk).
Hence you will be flipping over the back of the desk. The back of the desk should then be away from the final position of your table in your room.
Really only matter if your room is small and you are the only one flipping it over.
Steps in assembly of the EverDesk Max standing table
Step 1 : Mount the side brackets to the centre frame
The centre frame is the one with the Control Box (which is already pre-assembled into the centre frame). You will need to mount the side brackets to this frame. Do it for both sides. Nothing to screw at this time.
Step 2 : Locking the table legs to the frame and side buckets
First lift up the lock buckle so that you can place the legs into it.
Place one of the legs into the lock buckle. As you place the legs in, be careful of the cables.
This is where the step guard card comes in. To place it over the lock buckle to step on it to lock it. I would place something below that to protect your floor.
Tata…
The frame is completed.
Step 3 : Screw the completed frame on the desk
Now you can move the frame on top of your desk.
Tighten the side buckets onto the table using the 4 pieces of M6x12mm screws.
Step 4 : Attach the foot to the legs of the table
The foot of the legs are quite heavy so be careful as you lift it up to attach to the legs.
Use 4 pieces of M6x14mm screws to do so. 4 on each side… I suggest using the screws to test out first on the holes first before securing the foot. That means, take each screw, choose a hole, turn in the screw till it is completely in and then un-screw…. that way you can ensure all the holes are ready. I noticed some holes needed this as I could not turn at first.
Step 5 : Connect the Leg Cables to the Control Box
Each leg is attached to the control box in the middle by a “YELLOW” colour cable. You will probably have connected them in Step 2 but just make sure. Then there is a master cable from the power supply to the control box.
Step 6 : Connect the Health Coach Controller
The health coach controller can be assembled on the right side of the table or the left side of the table. I did it on the left side.
That means when I am facing the table as it is upside down, I install on the right side as per the photo.
The cable behind the health coach will of course go to the control box as it controls the up and down of the table.
Some cable management at this time would be good too.
Step 7 : Install the cable tray
This is to cover up the centre control box and all its cables. Doing some cable management again at this time is good (e.g. keep the excess un-needed cables inside including the main power line, of course taking into account the maximum height you are going to use)
Makes it look really neat and nice after that. I love it.
Step 8 : Assembling the Cable Tray Accessory
At this point, it is also good to place the huge Cable Tray accessory that I have purchased. Of course it goes to the back of the table but there are a few places for you to do so. There are ample screw holes for you to choose. Nice.
Step 9 : Flipping the EverDesk+ Max Table Over
As you flip the table over, please be careful of the Health Coach.
And move it to position 🙂
Very nice table. I love it.
When the table is at the sitting position,
The EverDesk+ Max at the standing position
The free gifts included the UniGroove Cable Stopper which you can use to hold up cables. The other end probably sits in the Cable Tray Accessory below the table.
Nice logo at the corner of the table
My feelings after using it for a few days
The table was pretty easy to assemble so you can really do it yourself. Just need to follow the video above and the step by step instructions on the manual (or here on this blog post).
And after using it for a few days, I am loving the desk (so far).
When using it, the table was pretty quiet when going up and down. I ended up using it in standing mode a lot and now I am looking for a floor mat to make it more comfortable to use when standing.
Hopefully this makes it a healthier way for me to work during work from home days.
Do you use a sit-to-stand desk too ? What are your feelings about using one ? Do share in the comments below.
