Stumbled upon this issue when I try to change a site logo in a WordPress Theme. Not sure why I cannot change my site logo in WordPress, and this theme was an official theme, which is the latest Twenty Fourteen Theme.
Since it is a short article, let me give you a nice AI image from Dall-E. HA HA.
The issue of cannot change my site logo in WordPress
To change a WordPress theme site logo, you will need to go to the Appearance>Theme>Customise. Then click on Templates and find the place where your header is used. Probably Blog Post.
Click on Header and then click on the logo to change it.
You will notice no matter how you click on the Logo, you cannot change it. Nothing happens. In my case, the file name is Lentor-Mansion-Logo-2.jpg and nothing happens when I clicked on it.
Cause of the Issue of WordPress Theme Cannot Change Logo
The reason, it turned out, was because of the LiteSpeed Cache Plugin I am using.
LiteSpeed Cache, often abbreviated as LSCache, is a caching plugin designed primarily for WordPress websites, although it also supports other content management systems like Joomla and Drupal. It is developed by LiteSpeed Technologies, the company behind the LiteSpeed Web Server. Many hosting companies use them today. My hosting company, Hostinger, uses it. I am getting very impressed with the hosting features as I started to move away from Amazon Lightsail. You can try it out with my affiliate link here.
Among other features, LSCache employs various caching strategies like page caching, object caching, and browser caching to improve website performance.
However, in this case, the plug in is the issue.
Solution to WordPress Theme Cannot Change Logo
Deactivate the Litespeed Cache plug in first 🙂
Then go back to where you encountered the issue and behold, you can now change your logo as the dropdown box appeared for you to choose a new logo (either a new upload or from your WordPress Media Library).
Saved it. You can also make sure you check the “Use as Site Icon” too to create the favicon that is so cute on browser tabs, bookmark bars and mobile apps.
Issue Solved. Happy Man 🙂
