Ubiquiti UAP-AC-M Access Point: Another Ubiquiti product. This time it is the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-M wireless access point. I bought this to improve my wireless signals at the balcony area.
This product can be used wired (i.e. you plug in a network cable to it and it becomes an wireless access point) or it can be wireless (i.e. you “link” it to another wireless point and it “extends” the wireless coverage). For me, I am using it for the second.
Unboxing Ubiquiti UAP-AC-M Access Point
Unboxing. Took only 2 days to arrive after my order in Shopee. Or you can buy it now on Ubiquiti Online Store in Singapore.
Hello.. slim body… looks like a… vibrator π
As usual, Ubiquiti supplied all the necessary mounting and more.
The main player with its two feelers π π
Unscrew the two black “eyes” of the insect to attach the two feelers. God, why I feel this is like National Geographic π
Similar to the FlexHD, it has a Network Port at the bottom. You then attach a network cable to it and then the other end to the POE power.
And powering it up
Tata.
It really does remind me of an insect. No kidding.
This view too…
Setting it up in Unifi Controller
I want to say it was an easy set up but it was not for me. Not sure why. I even end up needing to send commands such as set inform multiple times.
Not sure why. I suspect it was due to the firmware being pretty old and after I managed (somehow) to get the firmware updated, it was okay after that. I was on firmware 3.9.54.9373 while the one available was 4.3.24.11355. Like very far leh…
Here it goes…
And at the end of the day, the most important setting is to link this wireless access point to an uplink. The closest access point you can link to.
So far, I am pretty happy with the speed in the balcony π
I am now quite a fan of Ubiquiti products including this cute Flex Mini 5 Port Switch or the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter or Unify FlexHD Access Points.
