Lentor Mansion Preview Starts on 1st March

We finally made it to Lian Xiang Lou (莲香楼) this trip. Wanted to go last trip but always feel it is out of the way. Actually it is not at all as it is pretty near to Sheung Wan MTR. However, because we used to stay at Kowloon, we had very little chances of going to that area. This time we are staying at Hong Kong Island, so we go to Sheung Wan very often. Also, there is another reason why we are so often at Sheung Wan which I will share at the end of the post.

Anyway, Lian Xiang Lou used to be a very famous dim sum and morning tea place for Hong Kong people. It used to be in a 3 storey building even with the top floor being a place where the patrons hang their bird cages. You can imagine back in the older days, patrons will bring their bird cages and have early morning tea in Lian Xiang Lou !

Here’s how to get to Lian Xiang Lou from Sheung Wan MTR:

Follow the Blue Line above.

It was EXTREMELY busy when we were there and it was really hard to get attention and food. In fact, we ended up having to walk to the dim sum carts to get food ourselves. It is a mad scene when new food came out of the kitchen and people just walked up to the carts themselves instead of waiting at the table.

Luckily, we did get our tea 🙂 The very traditional way of drinking tea:

Because of the difficulty of getting the food, we did not stayed that long. We did however grab a LOTUS bun which they are famous for (WHICH TASTE REALLY GOOD) 🙂

However, truth be told, give me Maxim Palace at City Hall any time.. 🙂

Anyway, I did mentioned that we go to Sheung Wan quite often this trip.

One reason was many good eating places are at Sheung Wan. For example, I love this porridge place or Super Bowl Snack and this TVB place a lot.

Second reason is because we take a lot of ding dang trams and hence end up at Sheung Wan a lot. Final reason ? Well, we found a very good store selling soft fabric boots. Boots are expensive in Singapore and not to mention, not very popular due to the weather.

We found this place at Wing Kut Street (exact GPS Coordinates: 22.284967, 114.153941) just opposite BEA Bank and next to a fruit stall. The map above showed a RED CIRCLE where the stall is:

You can find really nice shoes and boots. For example, she bought a pair of black boots and cream boots each at only 98 Hong Kong dollars a pair. The same pair was selling at Ladies’ (tourist trap) Street at 150 Hong Kong dollars or even more before bargaining.

That’s really cheap and nice ! She wore them every day in Hong Kong and sometimes in Singapore too. It is cheap, well made and very nice ! They also sell normal court shoes (those you can wear to work) or leather boots but I dun know the prices. I am too busy watching the share prices of Hong Kong market at the bank store next door 🙂
