One of the interesting things that just so happen to me before my latest trip to Hong Kong was that during the same period in Hong Kong, there was a very good current affairs/variety show known as 蔡瀾品味 (The Taste of Cai Lan).

It is a series about the different unique places in Hong Kong (later in Taiwan, Japan and even Malaysia) that Cai Lan, a very famous food and cultural expert, would like introduce to you. But in this serial, it is not just about food (although it is very important to me) but other interesting places in Hong Kong etc.

So we were watching the series every night and taking lots of notes on some of the places that appeared interesting to us (and our stomach too). I would theus share with you some of the places we went to as a result of his recommendations.

The West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade was one of his recommendation. It is a place at the tip of Kowloon that allows you a EXCELLENT view of Central and Sheung Wan.

To reach there, you can go to Kowloon MTR and exit through Exit D1. Exit D1 is actually the Airport Express Counters. It is the place where people do the City Check In before they board the train to the airport.

From there, you walk out of the Airport Express terminal and onto the main road. On the main road, you then turn left. Walk ahead for about 5 mins and you can see the signs to the entrance to the Park.

In the attached picture, you can either go by the RED line or the BLUE line for 2 different entrances to the park. They are both the same as they both eventually end at the tip of the Kowloon Waterfront Promenade.

The Promenade is actually a very beautiful park by the tip of Kowloon island. It sits opposite Sheung Wan of the Hong Kong Island and still offers a very good view of Central.

Most tourists go to Avenue of Stars but this is another place to look at the tall buildings of Central. Having been to both in separate trips, I would say this is a much better place (of course, you do need to go to Avenue of Stars to see the stars’ handprints :p).

In addition to that, it is a nice park with lots of nice artistic pillars. The photos say it all. I wish I can be there, jogging away !

When we were there, the weather was at its “best”. It was pretty smoggy and also close to dusk so here’s just a few shots. I think at noon and when the weather is better, it will be a great place to take photos too. What a waste!
