Another place we had to go out of the way to try ! Roasted Pigeon ! This time we went to Sha Tin… really far from Downtown.

The roasted pigeon (乳鸽) at the Shatin Lung Wah hotel (沙田龙华酒店) is not exactly the best (my Hong Kong friend showed us another place later) but we tried it due to historial reasons. Apparently this place is very old and served roasted pigeon since many many years ago when people started to move to Shatin !

How do we get there. Firstly, we took the MTR to Sha Tin. It is interesting as it is not exactly the MTR that we took normally in Kowloon or Hong Kong. In fact, it was a TRAIN ! From Mongkok, you can take the MTR to Kowloon Tong MTR 九龍塘 and then get off. You will have to follow the directions carefully to go to the TRAIN station that leads to Sha Tin. It can be a bit confusing but I guess if you follow the crowd, it is pretty fine.

The trains are not the same as the MTR trains but are still very nice and clean. When we reach Sha Tin MTR, wow.. there’s a few nice shopping malls there too. I wished we have time to walk walk around. Hong Kong is a shopping paradise !

From the location map in the web site, it seemed very easy but when we reached there, either we are not familiar, it was too dark, we are too scared (ya ya) or too tired (true true) that we really could not see how we can directly walk from Sha Tin MTR. In the end, we walked to the bus terminal and some how got on a mini bus that took us to the Shatin Police Station. From there it is just a bridge walk over to the Hotel.

Walking through the hotel, you can see cages. Apparently there are pigeons in the cages but dun worry, my Hong Kong friend said they are not meant for consumption. Never mind 🙂

The food is so so… but I guess I can say I have eaten the Shatin Roasted Pigeon at Lung Wah Hotel….. HA
